Dwight Howard's lone season with the Lakers during the 2012-13 season didn't go quite as planned and featured plenty of drama, specifically the "feud" with Kobe Bryant, which resulted in him leaving the team in favor of Houston.
However, Dwight recently said him and Kobe "didn't beef" and that any perceived drama was a product of the media needing a story that would sell.
When asked on twitter why he and Kobe had beef in LA, Dwight responded,
"We didn't beef. Since we were losing they needed a story that would sell."
Back in 2015, Kobe commented on Dwight's time with the Lakers and said that part of the Lakers' culture made Howard feel "uncomfortable."
Per USAToday,
"I tried teaching Dwight. I tried showing him. But the reality is that when you have a perception of what it is to win a championship — and most perceptions of what it's like to win are a very outgoing, very gregarious locker room where you pick each other up and you're friends all the time. That's the perception," Bryant said. "And I think that's what his perception was of what the idea is. But when he saw the reality of it, it made him uncomfortable. And it's very tough to be able to fight through that, to deal with that challenge. And I don't think he was willing to deal with that uncomfortable and combative nature."
Dwight has bounced around since the 2012-13 season and was recently traded to the Charlotte Hornets this offseason in exchange for Miles Plumlee, Marco Belinelli and the 41st pick in the Draft.
