Childish Gambino's 2016 single "Redbone" has been certified double platinum by the RIAA. It is the first of Gambino's songs to reach double platinum status after it became his third platinum single in May. "Redbone" has seen recent success through its use in a popular meme (which Gambino referenced on stage last month), as well as its use in the critically acclaimed Jordan Peele film, Get Out.
The rapper and singer's 2011 single "Hearbeat" and 2013 single "3005" have each been certified platinum. Earlier this month, his 2016 album "Awaken, My Love!" was certified gold.
At his Governor's Ball performance in June, Gambino hinted that his next album would be his last under the moniker.
