Knicks want Melo to meet with new front office.

The New York Knicks have been working on trade deals with the Houston Rockets in an effort to get Carmelo Anthony out of New York, but after coming to terms on a deal with a new GM last night, the team has reportedly pressed pause on all Melo trade discussions.

"The Knicks want Anthony to meet with the new front office and coach Jeff Hornacek in the near future, but it's unlikely that Anthony will respond with eagerness about a plan to reincorporate himself into a franchise that has been pushing him -- publicly and privately -- to accept a trade out of New York, league sources said."

The "new front office" includes the Knicks bringing in Sacramento Kings VP Scott Perry to take over the role of GM.

Prior to the agreement with Perry, New York was said to be close to a multiple-team trade that would sent Carmelo to the Houston Rockets.

Frank Isola of the New York Daily News reports that all sides involved, including Melo, are frustrated over the Knicks' apparent change of heart.

"That's crazy," a source told the News. "From what I understand Carmelo is under the belief that he's going to the Rockets. That's what the Knicks have been telling us; that they're trading him. I can't imagine that after all he went though last season with Phil (Jackson) he's happy with this."

Throughout the offseason reports have suggested Melo is "pretty confident" he'll be in Houston next season.
