Today, Puff Daddy announced that he would be founding a charter school in his home neighborhood in Harlem. While the Bad Boy Records executive is mostly used to making major business deals, he’s branching out into the education space and giving back to his community. The school will be called Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School and will open this fall.
The school is an additional branch of Capital Prep Magnet School in Hartford, Connecticut. Steve Perry, who founding the original Capital Prep in 2005, will oversee the school. He sent out a series of tweets praising Sean Combs’ commitment to the school and cause. Perry also noted that OWN TV personality Ilyana Vanzant played in integral role in the school's planning.
Puff Daddy (or Diddy, depending on who you ask) says founding the school is “a dream come true.” We’re excited to see Puffy get involved in his community.
