The NBA's Western Conference has been the dominant conference for so many years now that Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has fantasized about kidnapping Adam Silver and forcing him to let the Mavs play in the Eastern Conference.
Cuban's Mavs are currently in the rebuilding stage, though he feels they'd be in a completely different place if they weren't in the wild wild West.
During last night's broadcast of the Mavs' 88-77 win over the Suns in the Las Vegas Summer League, Cuban said,
"We're rebuilding. Right? There's no question about it. If we were in the East, we would not be rebuilding. We'd be handling things completely different. I think I'm going to kidnap [Commissioner] Adam Silver and not let him out until he moves us to the Eastern Conference.
"Given where we are, given where the Warriors are and what's happening in the Western Conference, it kind of sealed what we have to do."
The Mavericks selected former NC State point guard Dennis Smith Jr. with the ninth pick in the NBA Draft after finishing last season with a 33-49 record.
According to ESPN, last year was the first time the Mavs finished under .500 since 1999-2000, when Cuban purchased the franchise midway through the season.
