Jay-Z's new album 4:44 is already considered a rousing success, and today the RIAA added to that storyline, certifying the album platinum.
The organization tweeted the announcement out this morning, saluting Jay for another incredible achievement in an outstanding musical career. This makes his 13th consecutive platinum LP release, a run that began with 1996's Reasonable Doubt. His biggest-selling album to date, according to the RIAA, is Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life, which was certified 5x platinum.
The news comes amid a wave of controversy that Hov has attracted because of supposedly anti-semitic lyrics that he used on his new track "The Story of O.J." Russell Simmons is just one of the high-profile names who have publicly defended him on social media.
