Serge Ibaka is a man who has overcome some major odds to become an NBA success story. He lost his mother when he was young, his father was a prisoner of war in the Congo and, perhaps most importantly, he was able to flee his violence-riddled homeland and blossom into a major name in the NBA. However, some criticism continues to dog him as his career progresses.
Questions about the validity of his age, at 27, continue to persist from sports circles. Even though there's no legitimate proof for this theory, Ibaka felt the need to push back on social media, in the form of a statement on Twitter. He says he was "not born in the jungle" and refuses to let these hurtful rumors get the best of his public persona.
