Kanter believes he would've been killed in Turkish jail.

Oklahoma City Thunder center Enes Kanter says he would've been murdered for speaking out against the Turkish government if he had been sent back to Turkey after his passport was cancelled last month.

Kanter, who was detained by police in Romania on May 20th, recently told Vice News about the consequences he would have faced if he had been sent back to his homeland.

In the discussion with Vice News, Kanter says,

"I would be in a jail and probably the second day you'll hear from the news, 'Oh, he just got poisoned and he just died. He got food poisoning.' Or, 'He was depression and hanged himself.'"

According to TMZ Sports, Kanter has referred to Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as the "Hitler of our generation," and the government has therefore labeled Kanter a terrorist and issued a warrant for his arrest.
