The legendary Wu Tang Clan hit up Montreality for an interview, which found the group discussing a variety of topics. It's no surprise that they kicked things off by paying homage to Prodigy, who passed away last week. "Me and Prodigy had a relationship for 27 years," says Raekwon. "I remember doin' "Eye For An Eye," in Queensbridge, just bein' there with him. We shared many moments, just gettin' up in the booth versin'. He had a good ear for beats...that's my family right there."
When asked about favorite New York emcees, several names were thrown into the mix. Ghost doesn't seem to care for any of the new acts, but shows some love to Dave East, and RZA shouts out A Boogie With Da Hoodie. Young M.A., Joey Bada$$, The A$AP Mobb, & Uncle Murda also get some love from the crew.
When "Mumble Rap" comes up, RZA quarterbacks the conversation. "We don't discriminate. I don't eat meat, but you can go eat your own meat if you want. They can coexist. And first, what is "mumble rap?" Who made that title? I bet you the guys who doin' it, they don't call it mumble rap. That's what the media calls it. Let them make their music and have fun."
But RZA does have a few words of warning to some of the heavy syrup users. "To anybody out there who's sipping on that syrup that's making you mumble, leave the syrup alone. That syrup make you mumble."
