La La Anthony appeared on the Wendy Williams Show today to talk about her new role on "Power", motherhood, and of course, the status of her marriage with Carmelo.
Speaking on the latter, La La revealed that Melo's top priority is to stay in New York to remain close to their 10-year old son Kiyan. Carmelo has a no-trade clause in his contract which will prevent the Knicks from trading him unless he approves of the move.
"Marriages are tough," La La said ... "It’s filled with ups and downs and we’re just going through a time right now. But him and I are the best of friends and our number one commitment is to our son, Kiyan."
"The most important thing with that is just to stay close to Kiyan," La La Anthony said during the interview, when asked about reports of Anthony being traded. "That's my priority, that's his priority. So wherever he ends up, of course we want him to be happy."
"We have to set an example to Kiyan. And that’s what’s most important. So I would absolutely never say a bad thing about my husband. That’s my son’s father and he is an amazing dad. I could not ask for a better dad."
According to ESPN's Marc Stein, "Carmelo's camp, while acknowledging Anthony's preference to stay close to his son, has tried to secure a buyout from the Knicks," which would allow him to team up with LeBron in Cleveland.
Of course, Phil Jackson and the Knicks would much rather trade Melo.
