DJ Premier is showing us a side of Prodigy and Mobb Deep that we've never heard before.
According to DJ Booth, the veteran producer has shared an "uncut" track from Mobb Deep called "Cop Hell." Eerie and haunting like their best work, the song was originally supposed to land on their 1993 debut album Juvenile Hell, but was pulled by their label after the controversy that erupted surrounding the Ice-T track "Cop Killer."
The song comes following Prodigy's tragic death, which has seen loving tributes pour in from all corners of the hip-hop community. This one in particular, a fresh song giving us some new life to the man's (and the group's) legacy, is something special.
