According to a report from Yahoo! Sports, Indiana Pacers star Paul George has informed the team that he plans to leave the squad as a free agent next summer. His preference is supposedly to join the Los Angeles Lakers, who are under new management that includes Magic Johnson in a crucial decision-making role.
George hasn’t requested a trade yet but reportedly wanted to tell new Indiana president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard that he wanted out and not confuse the franchise about his intentions. George could potentially score a four-year deal worth as much as $130 million with the Lakers next summer. George is a Southern California native and playing for the Lakers makes sense when considering his upbringing.
There is no word on whether Indiana plans to trade the all-star before next season.
