Back in October, The Roots announced that they would release their 17th album titled End Game. There have been little details about the album since the announcement, however now we get some new insight into the production behind the album.
In an interview with XXL, Black Thought shed some light on the project, revealing that the group had worked with producers 9th Wonder and Salaam Remi, along with Stro Elliot and Karriem Riggins. Questlove and Black Thought have been working on the album since they held a writers retreat in the fall.
“Last October we had a writers’ retreat at Electric Lady Studios in New York City for about a week or so,” Black Thought said, “within that time we got about a good deal of the groundwork of what’s to come for the record, End Game. I’ve been working, writing and recording on it since then.
