After Golden State's game 4 loss to the Cavs on Friday night, Draymond Green said that people in Cleveland "don't seem to be the sharpest people around."
In the second half of game 4, Green was hit with a technical foul which, according to the official box score, was his second of the game meaning he would have to watch the rest of the half from the Warriors locker room.
However, officials clarified that the first technical given to Draymond was actually meant for Steve Kerr, so Draymond was allowed to stay in the game. It was an unmitigated disaster, though Cleveland went on to win anyway and avoid elimination.
Draymond told reporters immediately after the game,
“I don’t pay much attention to people in Cleveland, honestly,” Green told reporters. “They don’t seem to be the sharpest people around.”
He was asked about those comments on Sunday, and made it clear that he doesn't regret his choice of words.
He doubled down on his comments, telling reporters,
"Absolutely not. Because everything I say, I know what I'm saying," Green said. "When I say something, I've thought about what I'm going to say before I say it. I never look at something and say, man, I shouldn't have said that. Because I'm a lot smarter than people think. When I say something, I've already thought about what I was going to say. So absolutely not.
"I didn't bash them. I just gave my thoughts."
"They boo me and thought I had a tech I didn't have, so that wasn't sharp," Green said. "I knew I didn't, so maybe I'm just a little sharper than others. I don't know. But they played 'Hit the Road Jack' and I didn't have to hit the road, so I didn't think that was that sharp. Maybe you though that was sharp."
