Earlier today reports surfaced that LeBron James' Los Angeles home had been the target of a hate crime, with the perpetrators spray painting the n-word on the gates leading up to his home.
Today, during the Cavs' media availability LeBron eloquently addressed the situation, saying it's an opportunity for him to keep the conversation going in our country.
“It just goes to show that racism will always be part of the world, a part of America, and hate in America, especially for African Americans, is living every day,” James said.
“Even though it’s concealed most of the time, people will hide their faces and will say things about you, but when they see you they’ll smile in your face. It’s alive every day. And I think back to Emmett Till’s mom, actually, it’s actually one of the first things I thought about. And she had an open casket because she wanted to show the world what her son went through as far as a hate crime and being black in America."
According to the report, multiple LAPD units and a neighborhood patrol vehicle responded to LeBron's LA home early this morning, and investigators are now looking for security footage from neighbors which may show the culprit who graffiti'd the outer gate.
LeBron, who is currently in the Bay Area preparing for Game 1 of the NBA Finals tomorrow night, bought the home in 2015 but does not live there on a regular basis. It is not believed that LeBron or his family were at the home at the time of the incident.
