Post Malone is known to be adventurous when it comes to his collaborations, recently dropping a song with Icelandic singer Estra Istrefi, but there's no way his fans could've expected him to team up with this particular star of yesteryear. A few days ago, Post put up an Instagram picture of himself in the studio standing next to the man whose debut album recently became the eighth hip-hop album to ever go diamond: Nelly. The St. Louis veteran also shared the same picture, tagging Post and referring to him as his "lil brah."
To be fair, Nelly is still active in the game, and he scored a platinum single with last year's "The Fix," featuring Jeremih. But he's still an unexpected choice for someone like Post, who's thought of as being at the forefront of the new guard.
Post Malone's debut album, tentatively titled Stoney, is due out this month -- perhaps on "August 26," the date that he used as the title of his May mixtape. Thus, his collab with Nelly likely arrives too late to make it onto Stoney. Complex points out that Post has a well-known affinity for country music, a genre that Nelly dabbled in with his "Over and Over" collab with Tim McGraw and his remix of Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise." Whether it'll twang or bang, we'll be the first in line awaiting whatever the unexpected duo has just cooked up.
