Former NFL all-star Michael Vick says that he is negotiating with the Atlanta Falcons to sign a one-day contract so that he can officially retire with his first NFL team.
According to ESPN, Vick told CBS Atlanta that he hopes the ceremonial deal can be completed soon.
Vick, 37, has not played in the NFL since 2015 and told ESPN in February that he is retired.
The Falcons picked Vick the No. 1 draft choice in 2001. His tenure in Atlanta ended when he was found guilty of facilitating dogfighting in 2007 and served 23 months in prison. The Falcons officially released him in 2009. Over his career, Vick passed for 22,464 yards with 133 touchdowns and 88 interceptions and also rushed for 6,109 yards and 36 touchdowns.
