UPDATE: Hugo's representative informed Pitchfork that the announcement was only "bad joke."
Chad Hugo, most known as one-half of production duo The Neptunes alongside Pharrell Williams, has announced that he is retiring from the music business.
This news certainly comes as a shocker from the man who has been responsible for hits from the likes of Jay Z, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Common, Usher, and a whole lot more.
"It's official," he wrote. "I resign from the music business. Thanks again, people, for your support throughout all these years. Good luck/God bless!"
Chad's further contributions include his role in band N.E.R.D. alongside Williams and Shay Haley.
In the times preceding this announcement, he's also made his solo rounds as a producer, getting behind a track for artists like The Internet, and Earl Sweatshirt.
Fans, of course, took to Twitter to express their dismay with the news while most expressed their gratitude for his contributions.
Given the fact that he's now deleted the tweet, let's hope that this signals a false alarm.
If not, kudos to Chad for moving forward with his next chapter.
