While closing out a recent performance in Arcosanti, Arizona, James Blake performed a stripped-down, striking version of Frank Ocean's "Godspeed" with just a piano and no other instrumentation. His soulful vocals help him stay close enough to the original but he definitely puts an original spin on it. The performance was the first time Blake performed a whole set on just a piano.
Blake helped produce "Godspeed," which explains why he was quick to cover the song live in concert. He was also one of Ocean's few collaborators who worked on more than one song from the Blonde album. His production credits span "Solo" and the song’s reprise, which features an insane verse from Andre 3000.
