How much higher can Young Thug's star continue to climb? When I first started writing for HNHH at the beginning of 2014, he was unquestionably the most hated rapper on the site and his music would rarely break a 50% user rating. These days, his presence is not only enough to rocket songs to the top of our chart, but it's a welcome one too-- the comments on both tracks he's on this week are littered with praises for his verses. He's won over more than his core, Barter 6-adoring audience, now drawing a crowd whenever he pops up for a feature.
Thug is a guest on the top two tracks of the week, but it's Bryson Tiller who scores the most in the top ten (three). Meek Mill is tied for second with Thug with two apiece. New tracks barely missing out on spots this week include Diplo, Justin Bieber, Young Thug and Rich The Kid's "Bank Roll" (#11), B.o.B and Lil Wayne's "E.T." (#15), Dave East's "Unforgettable" (#16), and XXXTENTACION's "Looking for a Star" (#17).
10. Bryson Tiller - Somethin Tells Me
All three of the tracks Tiller dropped last week hit our Top Ten, and all three notched remarkably high user ratings. With a 92%, "Something Tells Me" falls right in the middle, which makes sense as it's the most typical Tiller joint of the bunch. It debuts at #10.
9. Calvin Harris Feat. Future & Khalid - Rollin
Calvin Harris is now three for three with Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 singles that have landed in our Top Ten. The Future and Khalid-assisted "Rollin" follows Young Thug, Pharrell, and Ariana Grande's "Heatstroke" and Frank Ocean and Migos' "Slide," and in terms of quality, it also lives up to their reputations. "Rollin" debuts at #9.
8. Meek Mill Feat. ASAP Ferg - Slay
Meek Mill's birthday EP Meekend Music arrived last week, too late for any of its three songs to make it to the Top Ten, but this week it's gotten its due. Two of three made the cut, and obviously it's the ones with the features. In its second week out, the ASAP Ferg-assisted "Slay" is up five spots from #13 to #8.
7. Desiigner - Outlet
Desiigner's "Outlet" is not only the one holdover from last week's Top Ten list, it's now been on our chart for a quarter of a year. There's still quite a way to go before it's touching the half-year-plus mark set by DJ Khaled's "Do You Mind" last year, but it's halfway there. In its fourteenth week out, "Outlet' is down two places from #5 to #7.
6. Chris Brown Feat. Nas - Die Young
Chris Brown is releasing a 40-track double album, Heartbreak on a Full Moon, sometime in the future, but for now, he's dropping loosies the likes of which are either album tracks or not-- who's to say? "Die Young" is an homage to those who have lost their lives too soon, including Chinx Drugz, who's referenced on the song's artwork. This one debuts at #6.
5. Bryson Tiller - Honey
By most accounts, an 88% user rating is great, but it's the lowest of Tiller's from the past week. "Honey," along with the other Tiller song above it, is an official single from True To Self, his upcoming follow-up to 2015's TRAPSOUL. It debuts at #5.
4. Tory Lanez & Dave East - Out Of Center
The latest of Tory Lanez's loosies (which also recently included his version of Playboi Carti's "Magnolia") is this collab with NY's Dave East. "Out Of Center" marks the first time these two have worked together, and it looks like they'll be appearing in its music video together as well. The track debuts at #4.
3. Quavo - Paper Over Here
Migos topped last week's list as a group with the Julio Jones-referencing "11 Birds," and now 1/3 of the trio burshes the upper limits of the ensuing week's list on his own. Quavo may or may not have a full solo release in the works, as "Paper Over Here" is not the first time we've heard him venture out on his own, but only time will tell. This track debuts at #3.
2. Bryson Tiller Feat. Young Thug - Get Mine
In which Thugger says "The inside of my spot carry water/They should change the street name to cactus." "Get Mine" has the privilege of being both the highest-charting Bryson Tiller song of the week and the highest-rated Bryson Tiller song of the week (95%). It debuts at #2.
1. Meek Mill Feat. Young Thug - Backboard
The Ferg collab on Meekend Music did fairly well for itself, but it was no match for Thug. "Backboard" beats out every other track this week due to high-octane performances from both of its participants. After debuting far lower down last week, it's up 33 places, from #34 to #1, in its second week out.
