The biggest night in music is returning to the Big Apple!

From the West Coast back East!

According to the New York Times, Mayor Bill de Blasio has come to an agreement with executives from Madison Square Garden, CBS and the Recording Academy that will bring the Grammy Awards ceremony back to New York for the first time in 15 years. The main ceremony will be held on January 28th, 2018.

"There is no better place for music’s biggest night than the world’s greatest city," said Mr. de Blasio. "Bringing these awards back to [here] will allow us to further support and foster the music industry in New York."

The news, not unexpected by the music industry, comes after months of negotiations between the city, MSG, its labor unions and the academy, which is in charge of presenting the awards.

Even better for the city is the fact that the expansion of the Grammys into a full week of conferences and other events has made the whole package even more attractive to a host city. A study found the 2014 awards helped generate $82 million in benefits for Los Angeles.
