New details continue to emerge about the New Yorks Mets' decision to suspend pitcher Matt Harvey for 3-games without pay after he failed to show up to the ballpark the day before he was scheduled to pitch.
According to reports, Harvey failed to show up to Citi Field on Saturday afternoon, the day after Cinco De Mayo in which he was reportedly partying until 4am at 1OAK.
Sources close to Harvey told FanRag Sports, that he came down with a bad headache (described as the "worst of his life") after golfing Saturday morning, but didn't reach out to the team until late that afternoon to say he was ill and couldn't be at the park.
The Mets then performed a "welfare check" on Harvey, sending personnel to his Manhattan apartment around 10pm, where he answered the door in his pajamas. Harvey reportedly felt he was being "quizzed" by the security staffers about the real reason he wasn't at the ballpark.
Harvey, who is scheduled to rejoin the rotation Friday in Milwaukee, is expected to file a grievance over the suspension and lost pay, which cost him $84,016 of his $5,125,000 salary.
