Former Portland Trail Blazers All-Star Brandon Roy was reportedly injured in a shooting over the weekend in Los Angeles, according to multiple reports.
According to King5 TV in Seattle, Roy was a bystander in the shooting and was treated in South California before returning to Washington state where he is a head coach at Nathan Hale High School in Seattle.
Roy, who is currently recovering at home, was reportedly shot in the leg outside of his grandmother's house while trying to shield some of the kids who were outside when someone opened fire.
The Blazers released the following statement,
“Like many others, we’re just learning of the injury suffered by former Trail Blazers player Brandon Roy in a shooting over the weekend in California. According to those reports, Brandon was wounded as a bystander, but is expected to recover. Our thoughts and prayers are with Brandon and his family during this time.”
