Dahntay Jones lost roughly 2/3 of his season salary last night in approximately three minutes of action, but thanks to LeBron James he won't be any lighter in the wallet.
During Cleveland's Game 1 victory over the Raptors last night, Jones entered the game in garbage time, threw down a dunk with 18.7 seconds remaining, got into an argument with Norman Powell, received two technical fouls and got ejected from the game.
Here's his version of the story, per ESPN,
"It really wasn't that intricate," Jones told ESPN. "I don't know what happened. All I said was, 'You better not jump,' and that got me the first tech. And then the second one, Norman walked up on me and said, 'Don't you do that shit!'"
"And I said, 'What are you doing to do?' Like, 'What you goin' to do?' And that's two. So those are the exact words I said: 'What are you going to do?' No curse words."
Each of those technicals will run Jones (well, LeBron) $3,000 each, which is significant considering he's only making $9,127 in salary with the Cavs after signing with the team just before the end of the regular season.
After the game, LeBron told reporters that Dahntay doesn't have to worry about the $6,000 in fines, though he needs to stop getting kicked out against Toronto.
