ESPN firing up to 100 employees today.

ESPN reportedly sent a memo to all of their employees this morning, informing them that a number of on-air staffers and writers would be fired today, and the number is expected to reach 100.

According to reports, the memo from ESPN President John Skipper reads,

“Dynamic change demands an increased focus on versatility and value, and as a result, we have been engaged in the challenging process of determining the talent—anchors, analysts, reporters, writers and those who handle play-by-play—necessary to meet those demands,” Skipper wrote to employees. “We will implement changes in our talent lineup this week. A limited number of other positions will also be affected and a handful of new jobs will be posted to fill various needs."

ESPN has already informed a handful of employees that they've been laid off including longtime NFL reporter Ed Werder, as well as NFL analyst Trent Dilfer and radio co-host Danny Kanell.

The company is reportedly placing a large focus on its ESPN App with a “multi-screen approach around big events,” and is determined to build up their online presence.
