"He stuck up for us, and that's the penalty we got to pay."

Yesterday the NBA announced that Memphis Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale would be fined $30,000 for his legendary rant about the "very poor officiating" in his squad's Game 2 loss to the Spurs.

Fizdale called out the refs for calling a one-sided game in which Kawhi Leonard shot 19 free throws, more than the entire Grizzlies team, and for not giving guys like Mike Conley and Zach Randolph the respect they deserve.

Conley, who reportedly sent Fizdale a "Thank you" text Tuesday morning at 4am, said he and his teammates will be picking up the $30,000 fine on behalf of their coach.

Per ESPN

Conley said the Grizzlies "don't normally say anything about anything."

"I think Coach just finally just had enough, kind of got to a boiling point," Conley said.

"Everything he said was true,'' Randolph said. "He stuck up for us, and that's the penalty we got to pay. But it's the truth."

The Grizzlies vs. Spurs series will resume tonight in Memphis at 9:30pm EST. We'll see if Fizdale's rant has any impact on the way this game is called.
