After playing host on Kendrick Lamar's new album DAMN, ("NEW KUNG-FU KENNY!!!") legendary DJ Kid Capri sat down with Mass Appeal to dish on the process. In the interview, he spoke about being enlisted by TDE and hitting the studio to lay down vocals for the highly anticipated project, some of which have yet to be used.
"There’s a gang of stuff that hasn’t been used yet. That’s why I said I think he’s doing something later on, or he might be doing something for his show, but there’s a lot of stuff that I put out there."
Kid Capri does not give any concrete details, but he does mention that he believes TDE will be dropping some new Kendrick material sooner than later. "I think they’ve got some more stuff," he says. "There are some more things—coming out later, but for right now, that’s what happened."
While the internet-based theory that Kendrick would be dropping back to back albums proved false, it wouldn't be far fetched to see some of the unreleased DAMN. tracks eventually surface. After all, untitled unmastered dropped more or less out of the blue, and it was made up of unreleased material from To Pimp A Butterfly. Let's cross our fingers that Kung-Fu Kenny's feeling generous.
