A viral sketch imagines the challenges of being Kendrick Lamar's personal engineer.

Kendrick Lamar's new album, DAMN., is getting a lot of love. The bars are obviously brilliant. Some have marveled at the production. But what about another crucial facet of the music -- the mixing?

Rapper, producer, and comic Crank Lucas imagines what it would be like to be an engineer in the studio with Kendrick in a hilarious new viral video, properly titled "WHY I COULDN'T ENGINEER KENDRICK LAMAR." Lucas acts as both Kendrick and his engineer, who scrambles to keep up with multiple beat change-ups while trying to manipulate Kendrick's vocals mid-bar.

"I want you to take the beat, right, but drop the snare out of it -- and replace it with Erykah Badu sneezing," Kendrick demands of the engineer, who replies, "I don't get paid enough for this shit."

For real though, shout-out to MixedByAli, who has played an indispensable role in creating TDE's amazing catalog.
