One day after the New York Knicks announced that they'd be picking up Phil Jackson's option for the next two years, the Zen Master took the podium to discuss the state of the Knicks moving forward.
Most notably, Jackson basically confirmed longstanding rumors that he wants Carmelo Anthony off the team.
Addressing reporters moments ago, Phil said,
"We've not been able to win with (Anthony) on the court at this time," Jackson said. "I think the direction with our team is that he's a player that would be better off somewhere else and using his talent somewhere where he can win or chase that championship."
As we known, the 32-year old forward has a no-trade clause in his contract but has expressed that he'd be willing to lift it if he could compete for a championship. Although, Jackson's comments won't do the Knicks any favors when it comes to negotiations.
The Knicks are currently slotted to pick 7th in the NBA Draft, although that's subject to change depending on what happens at the NBA Draft Lottery next month. You can check out the Knicks' Lottery odds here.
