Cowboys to release Romo today.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will reportedly announce his retirement from the NFL today as he pursues a career in broadcasting with either CBS, Fox or NBC, all of which have shown interest in him.

According to ESPN, the Cowboys plan to release him today.

Romo, who will be turning 37 later this month, missed all of last season due to a back injury which paved the way for rookie sensation Dak Prescott to take over the huddle.

A number of teams, including the Broncos and Texans, were interested in the longtime Cowboys QB but he ultimately decided sitting in a nice, comfortable studio chair was better than getting punished every Sunday.

Although, there's still the possibility he could come out of a retirement if a team suffers a catastrophic injury at the quarterback position.
