So in case you didn’t hear, Donald Trump & the House of Republican’s who wanted to repeal and replace Obamacare failed to garner enough support to bring it to a vote on Friday. Having been going at for the past three months, the failed vote is a major defeat for President Trump and House Speaker Paul D. Ryan, who are unable to fulfill their campaign promise and more importantly casts doubt in the minds of supporters with the ability to govern more severe tasks.
House Speaker Paul D. Ryan conceded, “We’re going to be living with Obamacare for the foreseeable future.”
Trump said he would not ask Republican leaders to reintroduce the legislation in the coming weeks, and congressional leaders made clear that the bill — known as the American Health Care Act — was indeed dead. “It’s done, DOA,” said Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-Ore.), who drafted much of the legislation. “This bill is dead.”
“As you know, I’ve been saying for years that the best thing is to let Obamacare explode and then go make a deal with the Democrats and have one unified deal,” Trump said. “And they will come to us, we won’t have to come to them.” However, it looks like that won’t be the case anytime soon if so.
Of course, this news has sent twitter in a frenzy this afternoon, with supporters crying & haters celebrating Trump’s & the Republicans defeat. Even Hillary Clinton said it was a "victory for all Americans today," and Bernie Sanders chimed in as well. Lets take a look at some of the reactions thus far (below).
