An NBA general manager and a former player both believe that NBA players today are performing better on the road thanks to dating apps like Tinder which make it much easier for players to find women to hook up with, rather than having to stay out late in the club.
ESPN's Tom Haberstroh said the GM referred to this as the "Tinderization of the NBA."
A former NBA All-Star slightly disagreed with that sentiment, saying players actually prefer social media apps like Instagram rather than Tinder but ultimately agreed that these apps are making road life a lot easier for NBA stars.
"It's absolutely true that you get at least two hours more sleep getting laid on the road today versus 15 years ago. No schmoozing. No going out to the club. No having to get something to eat after the club but before the hotel."
In addition to the convenience of Tinder and IG, players are also fearful of being photographed and videotaped at clubs so they're avoiding them altogether, which results in less partying and more sleep on the road.
Of course, as Haberstroh notes in his piece for ESPN, chartered flights, as opposed to flying commercially, also helps improve performances on the road.
