Lil Yachty has been working on his debut album since last December when he permed his hair. Now that Teenage Emotions is close to completion, Lil Yachty is sharing some of its themes.
"It’s not just bars or straight mumble rap, it goes down different lanes. I be rapping real hard on this one, I be pop singing on this, and I be talking about being lost in love on this one, then back to 'fuck you, suck my dick!'," he told Genius in interview.
The ATL emcee said he's impressed with Chance The Rapper's Grammy win -- he himself was nominated for Best Rap/Sung Performance for his work on D.R.AM.'s "Broccoli." He said he counts his blessings. The 19-year-old started making songs for fun on his dad's computer.
Lil Boat says the record has "kind of got an ’80s, ’90s vibe on some of the tracks. It’s called Teenage Emotions so it caters to a teenager’s everyday lifestyle: heartbreak, happiness, that vibe of when you’re waking up in the morning, getting dressed and want to dance."
