Dallas Mavericks lifer Dirk Nowitzki eclipsed the 30,000 point total for his career last night, joining the ranks of Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Dirk, now playing in his 19th NBA season, went into last night's game against the Lakers 20 points shy of the 30K milestone but was able to hit the benchmark with 10 minutes and 58 seconds still remaining in the second quarter, draining a baseline jumper over Larry Nance Jr.
Dirk finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds in the Mavs' 122-111 win over the Lakers, but the outcome of the game was just an afterthought. Here's what Dirk had to say about his historic night, per ESPN.
"It's been sort of surreal -- 30,000 is amazing, a lot of points," Nowitzki said.
"Obviously, every milestone makes you reflect a little bit, reflect on people who helped you, been with you all this way, from all the coaches and Cuban and all the teammates I had, the fans that went with me through thick and thin."
"It's been an amazing ride, and hopefully a couple of more baskets are coming and then it's time to ride off into the sunset."
Check out how the rest of the NBA world including LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Dirk's shooting coach Holger Geschwinder reacted to Dirk reaching the 30,000 point mark for his career.
