Donald Trump has been throwing out wild accusations about Barack Obama for what seems like the past 8 years now, whether he’s criticizing Barack’s vacation time, birth certificate, or spending, the tan man is always riling fans by making bold accusations about his former predecessor, and on Saturday morning Trump made another wild claim.
Hopping on twitter in the early morning, Trumps is accusing Barack Obama of wiretapping the phones in Trump Tower during the 2016 presidential election
"Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my 'wires tapped' in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!” Trump tweeted. “Is it legal for a sitting President to be "wire tapping" a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW! I'd bet a good lawyer could make a great case out of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October, just prior to Election!”
He then went ahead & compared the alleged wiretapping to the Watergate scandals of the ’70s that ultimately led to then-President Richard Nixon’s impeachment. Of course, per usual Trump has yet to provide any supporting evidence for his claims, but we did find someone who could.
Former Obama deputy National security advisor, Ben Rhodes, tweeted in response that Presidents can't order wiretapping. "No president can order a wiretap. Those restrictions were put in place to protect citizens from people like you," he said.
So one again, Trump appears to be making wild accusations. We'll be sure to keep you posted on the next unreal thing Trump says or does.
