In the opening statements of Aaron Hernandez's double-murder trial today, the prosecutors say the former Patriots tight end killed two men in a Boston nightclub because of “a simple bump, a spilled drink and an exchange of looks.”
Hernandez's lawyer, on the other hand, is blaming Alexander Bradley, a former friend who was with Hernandez the night of the shootings and is the prosecution’s star witness.
Per CBSNews.com,
“Ladies and gentleman, this didn’t happen over a spilled drink – this happened over a drug deal,” Baez said. “Alexander Bradley had issues with Daniel de Abreu, and that’s why we’re all sitting here today.”
Hernandez, now 27 years old, has plead not guilty to the double-murder but he's already serving a life sentence for the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd.
