If you ain't know by now, Moonlight slayed the Oscars, and actor Mahersala Ali won Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film. As it turns out, Ali is the first Muslim actor to ever win an Oscar, a fact that we find really surprising to be honest.
Given Trump's thwarted Muslim ban, this is a very important time for Muslim-Americans to shine and be recognized for extraordinary achievement. It's just a bit crazy that this is the first time that a Muslim has won an Oscar for acting. Like, really? Ever?
