The Sixers have announced that their star big man Joel Embiid, who has been plagued by injury throughout his brief career, will be out indefinitely due to swelling and soreness in his left knee.
This news comes just a few days after the team revealed that rookie phenom Ben Simmons will miss the entire year as he recovers from a foot injury.
Embiid has not played since January 27th after suffering a bruised left knee and has missed 16 of the Sixers' last 17 games. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI today. On the bright side, at least it isn't another foot injury.
When healthy, Embiid has been a beast, as advertised, averaging 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game so far this season.
