Amber Rose, who was an exotic dancer before she became a hip-hop celebrity and sex-positive feminist, has bought one of the country's most renowned strip clubs, Ace of Diamonds in L.A.
She announced the purchase last night, while accepting the Vanguard Award at the All Def Movie Awards for her activist work as part of the transnational SlutWalk movement. She began her acceptance speech by explaining why she supports the SlutWalk, and she then segued into her past career as a stripper.
"I was a stripper for a very long time," Rose told the audience. "Best time of my life, by the way."
"Do y'all know Ace of Diamonds?" she then asked. "Well, I bought it."
Rose proceeded to dedicate her award to strippers everywhere, saying, "Y'all can one day be on stage with Russell Simmons receiving an award, so thank you."
