Yesterday afternoon the Los Angeles Lakers announced that longtime general manager Mitch Kupchak as well as Jim Buss had been relieved of their duties, promoting Magic Johnson to President of Basketball Operations in the process.
The team wasn't without a GM for long though, as the Lakers have reportedly hired Kobe Bryant's agent, Rob Pelinka, to take over for Kupchak.
According to The Vertical, Pelinka will be the day-to-day executive running the show, engineering trades, coordinating scouting and the draft while answering directly to Magic Johnson.
Magic is still looking to lure Kobe Bryant back into the Lakers organization in a player relations role.
Pelinka, who also boasts other big name clients like James Harden, Eric Gordon, Avery Bradley and Andre Iguodala among others, informed the players that he'll no longer be representing them.
"It happened fast," Gordon said, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
