Looking ahead to the Super Bowl LII halftime show.

Hip hop has been underrepresented at Super Bowl halftime shows. With the exception of the Black Eyed Peas in 2011, the NFL and its corporate sponsors have only invited hip hop artists to perform in supporting roles (Missy Elliot, Diddy, Nelly, Nicki Minaj).

This underrepresentation is a crime against the arts, and humanity. There are dozens of hip hop artists capable of constructing a vision of a set worthy of a Super Bowl halftime show and, given the budget, executing it. We have selected five.
