Comic book-turned TV series The Boondocks holds a place close to our collective hearts at HNHH, and it was a bummer when series creator Aaron McGruder stopped working on it. Amazon Studios is coming through in a big way in 2017, as they’re reportedly developing a new show created by The Boondocks creator.
The show’s storyline is still a mystery, but it’s reportedly an alternative reality-type story similar to their current show The Man in the High Castle, which is about a world in which the Nazis won World War 2. Based on McGruder’s previous work, we are definitely expecting this one to be racially-charged.
Will Packer is producing the show. He’s got a strong track record of eight No. 1 movies, including Ride Along, Takers, Stomp The Yard, as well as producing the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton.
McGruder hasn’t been doing nothing since leaving The Boondocks. He co-created the Adult Swim comedy Black Jesus that’s currently in its third season.
