Congrats to Fab on the come up!

Legendary Brooklyn rapper Fabolous can add another accomplishment to his long career, as he’s just been named Council of Fashion Designers of America New York Fashion Week: Men’s ambassador. Quite a mouthful to say, but an achievement nonetheless.

New York Fashion Week kicks off its opening ceremonies today, and as part of his ambassador role Fabolous will be able to sit front row at many of the shows. When asked by WWD what shows in particular he’s excited about, Fab replies, “I love stopping by Tim Coppens, I’m interested in the Raf Simons show that’s coming this time.”

He sees a lot of parallels in the stardom that comes along with being a hip hop artist with the big stage that New York Fashion Week offers. “When you get the light shined on you, it’s always interesting to see how people do in that light. The lights shines on you, the spotlight’s on you, so what are you going to do?”

Fabulous has been present at NYFW functions before, but this year he’ll be around more than ever. He even says he’s down to walk in a show as a model, although no one has asked yet.

Expect three new projects from Fab this coming year: the delayed Freddy vs. Jason project with Jadakiss, the delayed The Young OG Project 2, and a new studio album.
