Generational beef is common in rap. The latest episode involves legendary producer Pete Rock and Young Dolph.
Pete Rock, who is 15 years older than Dolph, took offense to a video of Dolph hosting a Rich Crack Baby "trap house" listening party. In particular, he took offense to the song "In My System," in which Dolph glorifies cocaine use. “I got cocaine runnin’ through my motherfuckin’ system," he raps.
“What dat fool say?” Rock wrote. “Lil kid right there chillin cocaine running through his veins? This kinda shit has got to stop. We gotta raise children better than this. Damn homie.”
He further expressed his disgust in a comment in response to a fan: “Yeah can rap about anything he wants BUT HE’S TRASH @ IT BRO. No matter what you say he’s hot garbage and thats the end of it. This aint no argument. HE HAS NO SKILL so who cares after hearing what dude sounds like. He’s corny son. Cmon man! You gonna compare somebody dope 2 him??? Who side are you on anyway??”
Dolph noticed the comment and dismissed Rock's anger. “I don’t know u, and u don’t know me ap[p]arently," he wrote. "But u lame as fuk bra."
