While Beyonce celebrates her Lemonade album going platinum tonight, her camp & lawyers are now having to take on a new lawsuit stemming from the album’s trailer.
According to Hollywood Reporter, independent filmmaker Matthew Fulks is suing the pop singer for allegedly copying his short film, "Palinoia", for her visual trailer of Lemonade prior to its release. In the lawsuit, Fulks says he cited nine similarities between his piece and her minute-long teaser.
Fulks says he was contacted about the opportunity to direct a video by the Columbia-signed musical group MS MR, and as a result, links to his fillm, Palinoia, were sent to others including Bryan Younce, who has created videos for Beyonce and has been credited on her self-titled 2013 album. The lawsuit claims that back in July, Younce requested Fulks' email and that later he sent the plaintiff a note acknowledging that he had received his "info" with an invitation to submit a treatment for consideration by Columbia.
