Pope Francis continues to spread a progressive gospel. He has now spoken in favor of public breastfeeding, even in religious spaces. During a christening ceremony at the Sistine Chapel on Sunday, many babies began to cry, which prompted the Pope to tell the mothers in attendance that they should feel free to nurse their infants at any time.
"The ceremony is a little long, someone's crying because he's hungry. That's the way it is," said the 266th Pope. "You mothers, go ahead and breastfeed, without fear. Just like the Virgin Mary nursed Jesus."
Yes, even Baby Jesus required a functioning female breast to survive, and though Pope Francis' words don't sound controversial, it remains that public breastfeeding is seen as taboo in many places across the world. As reported by The NY Times, there have been instances in the U.S. of women getting kicked out of conferences and threatened by police for exposing their breasts in public in order to feed their young.
