When Meryl Streep implicated Donald Trump at the Golden Globes on Sunday, addressing the regrettable time he mocked a disabled reporter, she likely knew she would incite a reaction out of the soon-to-be President. And she got one the next morning, as Trump took to his favorite medium, Twitter, and denied that he would ever mock he disabled -- but not before calling Streep "one of the most overrated actresses in Hollywood." The response was predictable, yes, but it turns out that Streep has caught Trump with his foot in his mouth.
In an August 2015 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Trump praised Streep and implied that she was up there with his favorite actresses. Responding to the question, "Any actress you love?" Trump replied:
"Julia Roberts is terrific, and many others. Meryl Streep is excellent; she's a fine person, too. The problem is I'll name three or four or five and then the hundred that I know will be insulted, and I don't mean to insult them."
He managed to follow up his compliments of Streep and Roberts with an inane attempt to prove that he's popular among Hollywood actresses, but regardless, we now have evidence that Trump was a fan of Streep's before she embarrassed him on prime time television.
