As if the Cleveland Cavaliers needed any more help to scope their championship team, they went out & got it Thursday night. According to sources, the Cavs have decided to trade away Mike Dunleavy & a protected 2019 3rd round pick to the Atlanta Hawks for their sharp shooting guard Kyle Korver. While the trade has yet to be finalize, sources believe Dunleavy will eventually go to a third team.
Korver or Dunleavy, the Cavs were heavy favorites to come out the Eastern conference for the third straight year, but I think this trade really improves their chances. The cavs are currently sitting as the #1 team in the East with a 26-8 record, meanwhile the Hawks aren’t quite done shopping around their players yet. Sources told ESPN earlier this week that both Paul Millsap & swingman Thabo Sefalosha are on the chopping block.
