After alluding to action he would take against Russia for its involvement in hacking the DNC and interfering with the 2016 Presidential election, President Barack Obama made good on his word and signed an executive order taking wide-spread action against Russia. Headlining those actions are the expulsion of 35 Russian intelligence operatives and the shutdown of two Russian compounds in Maryland and New York used for intelligence purposes.
In addition to these actions, the executive order includes economic sanctions, the declassification of “technical information on Russian civilian and military intelligence service cyber activity” and additional covert actions that the White House will not be publicizing. Sounds like some serious espionage is about to go down in the Kremlin.
The Russian operatives outed in the order will have 72 hours to vacate the country. Russian President Vladimir Putin has continued to deny any involvement in the attacks. We’re glad to see Obama getting in one last jab before he bows out for Donald Trump to take over.
