For good measure the Bills fired Rob Ryan too.

Some thing never last. One of those things is Rex Ryan’s tenure as a head coach. The Buffalo Bills have fired head coach Rex Ryan only two seasons into a five year, $27.5 million contract. His twin brother, assistant head coach and defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has also been fired for good measure.

Bills offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn will take Ryan’s place as interim head coach for the final game of the season while Buffalo attempts to locate a long-term option. Bills owner Terry Pegula released a statement on the firing today, saying he “spoke with Rex earlier today and we mutually agreed that the time to part ways is now.” The Bills have been eliminated from playoff contention for the 17th consecutive season.

ESPN has reported that the Ryan brothers had lost support in the locker room, particularly on defense. Players found out about the firing via social media, which is never a good sign. It seems like the winters in Buffalo are only going to get colder and more miserable for the foreseeable future.
